As you might have gleaned from my many, many holiday themed posts, Christmas is a big deal in my family. My parents and I spend Christmas Eve watching a Christmas movie and feasting on appetizers. (Maury joins us sometimes; other times, he prefers to sleep under my bed for the whole evening.) Later that night, we each get to open one gift: Christmas pajamas to wear to bed that night. (One of my favourite years was the time that my mom and I coincidentally bought each other the same pair of pajamas.)
The next morning, we get up early and spend the morning leisurely taking turns opening presents and then having a delicious breakfast. We have Christmas dinner with my Aunt and Uncle, either at their place or ours (we trade off each year).
I love the traditions that we’ve built over the years. As I get older, I realize more and more how special our time together is, and how lucky I am to have such a great relationship with my parents.
Despite my efforts to cherish every second that we spend together, the time always goes so fast. To ensure that I make ample time to visit with my parents and really enjoy the holidays, I’m going to take a week-long blogging vacation.
I hope your holidays are filled with the peace, love, and joy of the season. See you in the new year!
